Approximately 1 in 4 American adults suffer from chronic pain (pain lasting longer than 12 weeks). The majority of patients receive inadequate treatment. Pain affects more Americans than diabetes, heart disease and cancer combined.

Pain is cited as the most common reason Americans access the health care system. It is a leading cause of disability and it is a major contributor to health care costs.

The diversity of pain conditions requires a diversity of research and treatment approaches. Effective management of pain not only reduces suffering, but also improves sleep, reduces affective stress, and increases levels of daily functioning.

Pain can be a chronic disease, a barrier to cancer treatment, and can occur alongside other diseases and conditions (e.g. depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury). Coba Toxicology provides an individualized approach that addresses all the factors that influence pain.

Urine drug testing is one of a list of tools used in pain management. The information provided from a urine drug test assists physicians to make diagnostic and therapeutic decisions. Urine drug test results provides confirmation of whether or not the patient has been compliant with the treatment plan. It also allows for early detection of diagnose relapse or drug misuse. As an added benefit to the patient, the physician can act as advocated in third-party matters.

Physicians look for the presence of prescribed medication in the urine drug test result to assess compliance. If there is no evidence of the prescribed medication or evidence of non prescribed or illicit drugs would lead to further discussion with the patient. The results alone cannot be relied on as proof of non compliance.

Coba Toxicology urine drug tests simultaneously analyses 28 compounds in urine using Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LCMS/MS).
